I finally finished Angel season 5.

Honestly?  I'm not sorry I missed it the first time around.  While there were a few gems, they were mostly moments or one liners, rarely full episodes. And I fully blame WB for the horrid rushed ending, but come ON.  I got the feeling the Black Thorn group was going to be the big bad for the NEXT season, so why bring it up now?

And since I finished the series, I read the first 10 comics...

I'd have been a mad ass if THAT is the show that the series ended up.  We already know LA is hell.  Tell us something new.

But hey, BUffy season 8 still rocks.

No way!? Season 5 was the best! Anything with that much Spike in it is great. The comedy, the sarcasm was perfect. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I haven't read the comics after, but after your review, I don't think I want to.

Spike was a huge strike against it for me, for a lot of reasons.

I used to adore Spike.  The Spike of Seasons 2-4 of Buffy, and even some 5 when he was still happily evil, was good Spike.  Everything after that?  Bleh.  The only good thing about spike on Angel was his relationship with Fred.

I kind of get the feeling that what they're doing in the comics is something they're doing because they couldn't possibly do something so large on a TV show.  I could be wrong.  There are a few surprises that are kind of nice, but overall...?  Buffy Season 8 kicks it all over the place.

The Angel comic, in my opinion, is crap. Plus, as an extra striek against it, it is not written by Joss, nor is it really even overseen by him. The writer for it pretty much writes whatever crap he wants and no one gets much say in it. Sadly it keep selling, which means they keep making it, which means that IDW keeps its rights and no one (*coughcough* Dark Horse *cough*) who would do it justice can get the property to write for. *sigh*

I haven't gotten around to that one and I'm curious myself. At this point I'm really only reading Buffy Season 8 since it is the only one that I know is actually canon. As huge of a comic book geek as I am, if it's a series set in a pre-existing universe, I tend not to bother with it unless it's canon. I'm weird like that.
